This is what I hate/want to see in the theme system

Hokay, so let me explain what I dont like:

Basically, its hard to design a layout because:
there is too many separate files.

Basically this would be my ideal layout

Basically the idea is the main page elements are in the main.tpl.php file, and the sub pages, the content, are in their own template files.

Obviously you would have a sub-template for something like the panels, but what im trying to get at is that the main elements (the ones highlighted in the sexy image should all be in 1 template file to make it easier to code

I think that kind of simplicity might be good but bear in mind it would have to be quite flexible to match up to (or to supercede) what's already there to allow for a more diverse range of themes. A combination of that and the system we already have as a template would be good.

There would then be optional sub-templates (These would be for the panels and pages )

Will it still be so versatile that you can still do like paulwratts example with the crazy text?

Is it really the eoGlobe now? Can it just be the globe now please? I don't think everything we make or do requires an eo prefix. Sarcastic Smile

I apologise for it looking like that just landed there but it... did. I was making that other theme as a concept and that seemed like as good an idea to plonk it in there as any.
